On 14 June 2019, the Comité FEGASUR 2019 of Peru achieved the world record for the largest parade of alpacas, assembling an extraordinary 1,048 alpacas through the streets of Juliaca, Puno, Peru. The feat took place during the 58th anniversary of the Feria de Ganadería y Agricultura del Sur (FEGASUR), involving all thirteen provinces of the department of Puno. Both the Huacaya and Suri breeds of alpaca were represented in this magnificent display of Peruvian culture, tradition, and community spirit — a celebration uniting an entire region in pride of its heritage.
