On 25 September 2022, the vibrant skies and sparkling waters of Praia do Cumbuco in Caucaia, Ceará, Brazil became the stage for an unprecedented spectacle as 884 kite surfers from over 31 nationalities took to the waves simultaneously in the world’s largest parade of kite surfers. Organised by Winds for Future — a Brazilian organisation dedicated to using the power of wind sports to advocate for ocean awareness — the record-breaking event lasted 1 hour and 45 minutes and transformed Cumbuco’s renowned coastline into a breathtaking canvas of colourful kites and athletic brilliance.

Cumbuco is already one of the world’s most celebrated kite surfing destinations, blessed with near-constant trade winds and ideal conditions for the sport. By bringing together 884 riders from more than 31 countries, Winds for Future turned this world-class venue into a global beacon of both sporting excellence and environmental advocacy. The parade was a powerful statement for ocean awareness — demonstrating that sport can be a force for positive change, uniting people of all backgrounds in a shared passion for the sea and a collective commitment to protecting it.
