Longest Floating Walkway
Stretching an incredible 5.13 kilometres (3.19 miles) across the still waters of Luodian, Guizhou Province in China, the world’s longest floating walkway stands as a breathtaking intersection of engineering ambition and natural beauty — officially recognised and certified by the World Records Authority as a new global benchmark in civil and tourism infrastructure.
Completed on 30 December 2016, this monumental structure was constructed through a remarkable collaboration between Chengdu Veni Tourism Development Corp. and Shanghai Qihua Water Engineering Construct, Co., Ltd — two organisations whose combined expertise brought to life a structure that showcases the possibilities of modern construction at an extraordinary scale.
The walkway winds elegantly across the water’s surface, offering visitors a panoramic, immersive experience of Luodian’s stunning natural landscape from an entirely unique vantage point. The massive structure is a marvel of individual interlocking blocks, each anchored with precision, forming a continuous pedestrian pathway that has redefined what floating infrastructure can achieve at scale.
The World Records Authority recognises this achievement as a landmark in tourism civil engineering, demonstrating the possibilities of modern construction and the limitless creativity of teams dedicated to spectacular, institution-level accomplishment. Congratulations to both teams for this extraordinary contribution to engineering and tourism innovation.
