Longest Ramp Jump by a Truck Cab
At the iconic Evel Knievel Days Event in Butte, Montana β the spiritual home of American daredevil culture β Gregg Godfrey did something that defied logic, physics, and most people’s understanding of what a truck cab is capable of. On 24 July 2015, he launched his full-sized truck cab off a ramp and soared through the air for an extraordinary 50.60 metres (166 feet), setting the world record for the Longest Ramp Jump by a Truck Cab, officially certified by the World Records Authority.
This is not a motorbike. It is not a purpose-built stunt vehicle. It is a full truck cab β a machine of immense weight and mass that has no aerodynamic design for flight. To even attempt such a jump requires meticulous engineering, fearless preparation, and a level of technical skill in the world of motorsports that very few possess. Godfrey brought all of that and more β launching into the Montana sky and sticking a landing that rewrote the record books.
The record, set in the shadow of Evel Knievel’s legendary legacy, demonstrated unparalleled daring, technical skill, and a commitment to pushing the machine-driven limits of human accomplishment. WRA adjudicators meticulously verified the achievement on-site, and it has now been officially enshrined in the WRA record books as a defining standard of extreme motorsport.
The World Records Authority proudly recognises this truly monumental feat of power and precision β a shining symbol of what preparation, courage, and an extraordinary sense of possibility can achieve when the ramp drops and the wheels leave the ground.
