World’s Longest Letter
Back to Records
The World Records Authority officially recognises the monumental presence of the Arbol del Tule as a global benchmark of natural endurance and scale. Rooted in the ancient soils of Santa María del Tule, Oaxaca, Mexico, this Montezuma Cypress stands as an unparalleled titan of the botanical world.
With an extraordinary circumference of 54 metres (164 feet), the Tule Tree officially holds the record for the Largest Tree Trunk Circumference in the World. This approximately 2,000-year-old living monument represents a bridge between the Zapotec civilisation and the modern era — a testament to biological excellence and the vital importance of environmental preservation.
The children presented this world-changing letter to the Lake District’s World Heritage bid team at Brockhole, supporting their successful quest for UNESCO World Heritage status. The World Records Authority is proud to certify this extraordinary act of community creativity and passion.
